Join the BTECH UV-PRO Discussion Group

Among the handhelds our members carry at WN4RC, the BTECH UV-PRO is a favorite. If you own one, are thinking about buying one, or just want to see what the fuss is about, we invite you to join the discussion group on groups.io.

Why We Like It

  • Dual-band coverage. It operates on both 2 meters and 70 centimeters, so it works with most local repeaters and simplex activity.
  • Bluetooth built in. You can pair it with your smartphone and program it from an app rather than fighting a tiny keypad.
  • GPS and APRS. Position reporting and packet capability are part of the radio, with no extra hardware to buy or carry.
  • KISS TNC interface. The radio exposes a KISS interface over Bluetooth, so it can work as a wireless TNC for packet software on a phone, tablet, or computer. That makes it a handy, portable option for packet, APRS, and Winlink email experiments.
  • Practical for the field. It is compact, charges over USB-C, and fits easily in a go-bag, which makes it a good choice for emergency communications.

What You’ll Find in the Group

The group is a place to ask questions, trade programming tips, share APRS and Winlink setups, and compare notes on KISS configurations, accessories, and firmware. Beginners are welcome, and so are experienced operators with advice to share.

Sign up, introduce yourself, and tell us how you use your UV-PRO. We hope to see you there.

  1. Great timing. I was planning on getting one very shortly. The Bluetooth TNC at that price point seems like a no brainer. I’m excited to get into APRS.
