Welcome to the Upper Cumberland Neighborhood Radio Club (WN4RC)
Looking for a place where technology meets tradition, where innovation is paired with service, and where the airwaves carry the spirit of community? You’ve found it. The Upper Cumberland Neighborhood Radio Club (WN4RC) is your gateway to the exciting world of amateur radio—a passion that not only connects people across the globe but also strengthens the fabric of our local Appalachian community.
At WN4RC, we believe that amateur radio is more than a hobby. It’s a way to learn, grow, and give back. Whether you’re tuning in for the first time or are already an experienced operator, our club is dedicated to fostering technical skills, building camaraderie, and making a meaningful impact through the art of communication.
Why Amateur Radio? Amateur radio is a unique blend of exploration, education, and practical application. It’s a chance to experiment with cutting-edge technology, discover the physics of radio waves, and communicate in ways that no internet outage or cell tower failure can disrupt. Ham radio operators are vital to disaster response, public safety, and community events, proving time and again that their passion has the power to save lives and bring people together.
What We Do at WN4RC?
Grow the Ham Community: From licensing events like “Cooke’d Ham in a Day” to technical workshops, we’re here to help you embark on your amateur radio journey or take your skills to the next level.
Engage the Next Generation: Through hands-on STEM projects, 3D printing, and building ham accessories, we inspire young minds to embrace the possibilities of technology and communication.
Support Our Community: Our CERT-certified members stand ready to provide critical communication and assistance during emergencies, ensuring our Appalachian region is prepared and resilient.
Embrace Innovation: We celebrate the evolving world of amateur radio by exploring modern digital modes, like Meshtastic, that expand the horizons of what’s possible.
Whether you’re interested in emergency preparedness, global communication, technical experimentation, or simply connecting with like-minded individuals, WN4RC is the perfect place to explore the boundless opportunities amateur radio has to offer.
Join us on this incredible journey—let’s build connections, share knowledge, and make a difference together. The airwaves are waiting for you!
