July 26, 2025

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to communicate with people across continents using just a handheld radio? Are you curious about the science behind signals, frequencies, and the captivating world of ham radio? Whether you’re a complete beginner or a tech enthusiast looking for a new adventure, earning your Amateur Radio Technician License is the gateway to a vibrant global community.

We invite you to join our comprehensive, fast-paced one-day Amateur Radio Technician License Class, where we’ll cover the entire Technician question pool—from radio basics to FCC regulations—culminating in the official exam at the end of the day. Our mission: to make ham radio accessible, engaging, and achievable for everyone!

What Is the Technician License?

The Technician License is the entry-level credential in amateur radio, issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). With this license, you can legally operate on a wide range of frequencies, including VHF and UHF bands, and join exciting activities like emergency communications, public service events, contests, and global conversations over the airwaves.

No prior radio or electronics experience is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I need to bring?
  • What do I need to do ahead of time?
  • How hard is the exam? The exam consists of 35 multiple-choice questions drawn from the published Technician question pool. If you attend the full class and participate in the practice tests, you’ll be well prepared!
  • What happens after I pass? Once you pass the exam, your license will be processed with the FCC, and you’ll receive your callsign—often within days. You’ll be ready to transmit, join nets, and participate in local and global amateur radio events!
